Gun scare in Toronto...

"We found it ... it's Lego," Mr. Bell recalled the officer saying, as the police promptly uncuffed him.
Some guy in Toronto bought himself a LEGO gun and assembled it at the office.

A coworker saw the gun and called the cops. The response was quick and efficient.
"With calls like this you have to be safe, not sorry," said Const. Tony Vella, a Toronto police spokesman. "Until we know it's not a gun, we have to take it seriously."
Mr. Bell says he holds no grudges against the police, considering how real the toy gun looks.

"If there was someone in here with a gun I'd expect nothing less," he said. "However, it wasn't like I was walking around downtown with it. I didn't actually do anything with it."

Mr. Bell was released and faces no charges.
THIS IS CANADA. Nobody even considered for a moment that this guy might have a conceal carry permit, because nobody does (practically nobody).

Just that presence of a gun puts the fear of God in citizens because we don't know what it is.

All we know about guns is that guns are "dangerous" and kill people. The only time we hear about guns is at times when illegal guns kill people, and we forget to see the difference.

Some would say that citizens are armed and subjects are disarmed. I tend to agree with that point of view. I guess I'm a law-abiding subject of Canada.

What if other employees had been armed? One of them could have unholstered his piece, gone to the cubicle and asked Mr.Bell what the hell he was doing, playing with his gun. Instantly, that coworker would have put back his own gun, seeing that it's just a toy.

After all, real guns are NOT toys. They're tools. The SWAT team use these tools appropriately. They had guns and nobody got killed.

Let's ponder that for a second...

Polytechnique bullshit progress

I was reading the paper this morning and there was an two page section about the 20 anniversary of the Polytechnique shooting rampage which targetted women.

The article, at some point, question IF Quebec society had evolved at all in the last 20 years. This is insulting to me, because retarded murderers don't affect the progress of society, they just add flavor here and there. All and all, they're irrelevant.

The article, this is the part which insults me, mentions the GOOD things that happened since then.

Foremost, they mention the Canadian Gun Registy.

They justified it by saying it's refered to 10 000 times a day by law enforcement.

NO MENTION of the fact that it gets tapped with every name that goes into their system, it's an automated system.

NO MENTION of the fact that it hasn't prevented a single crime since it's been installed. It may have warned cops of the presence of guns in a hostile situation, but prevented a murder? NO.

Kimveer Gil had his permits and his guns were legal, registered. NOTHING could have stopped him from shooting up Dawson College.

The politicians behind the gun registry want nothing to do with facts or figures. They have an agenda and it disgusts me to see them run around the facts.

LEGAL GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE. Tens of thousands of guns don't kill people every day, they stay locked up or used properly by law abiding citizens.

But the gun registry is promoted as the tool to bring a gun free utopia for the sheeple. It's an illusion.

Canadian women can not arm themselves, so the problem of human nature and human aggression is ignored.

Men will be violent. Men will sometimes commit rapes if they think they can get away with it.

Arm yourselves. DO NOT call 9-1-1.

I DO hate feminists, they've destroyed many good values we used to have and forgot to arm themselves, so they're facing trouble on their own.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Tu peux pas avoir le beurre et l'argent du beurre.

Arm yourselves, ladies. Get the fuckin' permit. And stop dating fuckin' arabs. Yes, I'm racist. Yes, I hate arab muslims who come to Canada to marry stupid girls.

Quebec has progressed in the last 20 years, but obviously there's a lot more work to be done yet.

Never forgive, never forget. Never again.

French don't know french...

Here's something funny I heard today.

After work, I'm in the lockroom with four french guys. The space is cramped so I'm waiting for them to clear off so I can reach my locker at the end of the corridor.

They're chatting away and one guys stops them and asks what a "french" is. The word "francais" is in french, but "french" as an english word means something to us. He doesn't know.

So one guy tells him that it's the short version of "french-kiss". You just have to say "french" to mention a dirty kiss.

AND I REMAIN SILENT.

Honest, this was too funny for me and I don't care whether they learn something or not. Screw them.

They have no idea that in the USA, anything "french" is dirty.

Three examples that come to mind is "french kiss", which refers to a dirty kiss.

A french whore is obviously a dirty whore.

Also, if someone curses all the time and it's inappropriate, they might excuse themselves by saying "pardon my french".

AND THESE GUYS, BORN IN FRANCE, HAVE NO CLUE. ROFLMAO!!!

But I've met a breton and who's really cool. Give him a mustache and he'd be the stereotypical round faced short frenchman. It's like I've known him all my life.

We're basically the same age, but he's done his mandatory military service and he's put a mirror to my face regarding my Quebec society.

He once told me about France's separation of church and state, dating from 1905. It's come about recently in Quebec (late 60's) and to him, it shows that we're still very much Catholic. I can't see that, and I thought that was VERY interesting.

He also mentioned men from France who were present when the US Constitution was thought up, and went back to France and based France's constitution on the frame of the US Constitution. He attributes the differences between the two on cultural differences, which makes sense because France hasn't had a "Wild West", the USA didn't have to deal with Popes or Kings.

So in a nutshell, I'm getting seriously fed up of working with arrogant France born pieces of shit, but then you find a diamond which justifies it all.

One hell of a week...

Photobucket
We fired my Costa Rican partner this week. He called in late on Tuesday (when I start my week), then he called again later to say he was stuck in the metro (three hours late by then). He was told not to come in at all.

Tintin was with us over three months then quit. Gringo Starr was with us two months and was finally fired because he was just too stupid, kept saying yes when he actually meant no.

Unlike Tintin, this Costa Rican guy (in theory, he's canadian, but still...) spoke three languages but couldn't clean the two home-sized bathrooms under two hours. He cleaned them daily for two months, never under two hours. He never did any dishes after I left, despite that being part of his job.

Tintin didn't speak three languages but he also didn't come in late three times in the first week he was hired (I'm still convinced Tintin was rocked too close to a wall as a child, though).

Both of them needed glasses to read, yet neither actually wore those glasses to work. Tintin gets points for actually bringing them to work (twice), which is a moot point because he didn't wear them either time, but he gets points for that anyway.

Doom is a 25 y/o kid who was hired on Wednesday, came to work on time on Thursday, also on time on Friday. When he came back to me after 20 minutes after cleaning both bathrooms, I didn't weep, I didn't kiss him but I was a little bit in love with this guy.

Which is absurd since he just happens to follow two employees who had their heads up their ass.

But this is excellent news. I was hurting. I really need a kid like that to pick up the slack. I had a anxiety attack on Thursday towards the end of the day. I've had much worse in the past(I've had uncontrolable shaking once and a black out/lose of memory once during an oral exam in school), this time I just left and took a cigarette break.

Road traffic on Demaisonneuve is soothing like a mountain river at times (picture above is on Demaisonneuve, looking south on Delorimier).

Having Doom with us will take a lot of stress out of my life, a lot of weight off my shoulders. I'll be getting a lot of sleep this weekend in an attempt to become human again.

Working 9 hour days was a factor. Getting two cuts on my fingers today (I so nearly made it through the week unhurt...) just proved that I'm tired and that I gave everything I had to give.

God bless the weekend.

Also, I went back to drinking beer earlier this week. Not as much as a month ago but it is daily. My attention is actually on a greater health risk which brings me little or no pleasure: Cigarettes.

Despite being my escape when I have an anxiety attack, I want to get rid of cigarettes. It's self-medication, it's a crutch but it's useless.

I've had enough but I'm scared to death.

Anyhow, God bless the weekend.

Climate change conspiracy?

I'M STILL WAITING...

This is NOT in the news. Nothing.
